It sounds impossible! Kids drinking green juice. No way! But yes way it can happen and here’s how to make it easier.
First, juice at home. I’ve gone to different juice bars and my girls will hate one or the other because it’s too spicy or too veggie. So, to not make them suspicious of “quality control” just do it at home where you can control exactly what goes in.
The stuff you want in: celery, spinach, kale, cucumbers, ginger, lime
The stuff you use to make it more kid friendly: green apples, pineapple.
Amounts: I do one bunch of kale, 3-4 big handfuls of spinach, 1 cucumber, 1 lime, 2 stalks of celery. Watch the amount of ginger. A little goes a long way. I do a tiny nub or 1/4 to 1/2 inch slice. Ginger can make it too spicy. Apples I do 2 but start out with 3. For sure add pineapple when you are starting out. You can omit it as you juice more although it does have amazing anti-inflammatory properties so use it if they’ve gotten a bad bump. The more apple and pineapple the sweeter it is and so they will down it no problem. This amount of ingredients will give you enough for a family of 4.
You can also add spirulina and powdered pro-biotic for added benefits. One of my girls prefers it with ice cubes the other with none.
The reason I juice with the kids is because once they’ve had this I know they’re ok with veggies for the day…or two. They like it and will power through the entire glass no problem. Their friends who at first think it’s gross dig it once they brave the color and try. I remind them of Green Eggs and Ham. And of course peer pressure is always useful for good and evil so use it to your advantage in this case. If you have friend with kids who juice ask them for a little help influencing. Good luck!
