My youngest plays DJ on the morning ride to school. She’s six. This is her playlist:
The Greatest Showman: This is Me
Sing!: Johnny’s I’m Still Standing
I asked her this week why she picked these songs and her response was “Because I’m going to go to school pumped up and have the best day ever!”
I’m a big fan of Tony Robbins. Before my girls were born I was listening to his CDs and I continue to do so today, except now it’s podcasts and audiobooks. My girls are exposed to Tony a lot. I play him in the car and at home as I make dinner or fold laundry. I didn’t realize how much has been sinking in. Although, I admit I often say “control your state” or “change your state” and now they say it back to me as well.
My six year old is not only aware of getting into a positive state of mind but she also has a tool to getting herself there: music. I am beyond thrilled! I mean I’m so thrilled I was in tears as we continued to school. Drug addiction and self-deprecating choices are caused by not controlling one’s state so I now feel she is coated with one layer of teflon against those issues. I’m immensely grateful for so much: my awareness, my desire to constantly listen to wise people, their ability to take it in and for Tony Robbins himself and all his wise words.
