Wednesday:
Labor Day came and went and it took summer with it. Since Tuesday the weather has cooled off significantly. Add the overcast skies and we really know fall has arrived. It’s quite nice. I love fall but it also has a hint of melancholy for me. It reminds me of two years ago when life got very hard. I should really recognize how life has changed for the better and how we are all much stronger and better.
Change in weather really affects how I dress and eat/cook. Cravings for yogurt and fruit are replaced with cravings for French toast. I had some holiday Challah on hand so we made thick, yummy, Texas style French toast for breakfast. P loved making it and eating it. Then we were off to school. She wants to go to school. I’m grateful for that.
We spent the afternoon inside. Both of us have been fighting off a little bit of a bug. Our weather isn’t really cold per say but to our bodies who have been dealing with triple digits it feels quite cold.
We did random craft projects. I bought felt recently so I cut out various shapes in various colors for P to glue onto another piece of felt. She’s very much into glueing and layering pieces. Meanwhile, I made her a crown of hearts out of felt and extra pink buttons. She didn’t like it at first but she was wearing it by the end of the day. She pulled all the extra pink buttons together and called it a “puddle of buttons”….sounded so cute. It would be the perfect name for a kid’s boutique or a mom’s blog I think.
D came home relatively early. We were outside “riding” her balance bike when he arrived. The two of them played together before going in for dinner. The playing continued at dinner. D got P to eat a huge salad by doing a funny ninja routine. He’s learning that to get a toddler to do anything you have to turn it into a game. We’re both learning this trick. He executes it’s with greater ease. It was a perfect day. The kind of day that continues to erase two years ago.
