There are times in the day that bring me great joy.
The simultaneous hum of the washer and dryer as I make dinner, while P is entertained by something non-electronic makes me very happy. Catching P fully engrossed in a book makes me very happy. Often I “spy” on her because I just love seeing the look on her face as she turns the pages. The quiet at the end of the day when everyone is asleep and all my chores are done makes me happy. But by far the thing that makes me the happiest is the view of our pool in the summer.
About the time when I’m making dinner D and P usually play in the pool. I pull the screens and doors off to one side to watch and hear the laughter and splashing. They are the most soothing and intoxicating sounds. This is what I dreamed of when I thought of having a family.
