So, I obviously take a lot of pictures of P. She is no stranger to being in front of the camera or to the concept of seeing “play back”. However, it still caught me off guard when she began telling us to take her picture….AND striking a pose AND directing the desired camera angle. Case in point the picture above.
I asked D where she would get the idea to pose like that: hip to the side, one knee bent in? D said “We get W Magazine! How could she not know how to pose. The magazine is enormous. She can’t miss it?!” He does have a point but I’ve never seen her look through a copy of W.
Btw, it’s the last of my fashion magazines. I switched from Vogue to Cookie and Elle to Whole Body. I have no brain, energy or money to spend on fabulous clothes or the coordination of it all. Plus, I’m trying to keep the images of “beauty” out of the house for as long as possible. I’d like to define beauty with different images than the ones in fashion magazines. W has more articles about people, places and the business of fashion. And yet, I guess these images have made their mark.
Well, this posing and self awareness of what makes a picture good has started the conversation about getting P into commercial work. We’ll see. More discussions to come.
