About three weeks ago we started going to Create Studio in West Lake Village. It’s been a great weekly adventure. I love that P now has a place to make her art, ie a mess, in a good environment. She gets to play with confetti and glitter for example. These are supplies I don’t like to have at home for fear of coming out of the shower one day and finding a pile of it all over the living room.
Beside those kind of fun supplies, there are also other things that have expanded P’s creativity. There’s paint in regular pots and also paint in spray bottles. I watched P’s process the other day and was mesmerized. She paints, then sprays, then takes a DRY brush and creates another pattern in select parts of the drip from the spray. She’s not brushing or spraying willy nilly. She has a method and a purpose.
Jemma, the owner, is so helpful and creative. She always has ideas for P, and P is excited to try anything Jemma offers. In fact, P finds a way of getting Jemma to get her started on an activity right after I’ve told her it’s time to clean up and we have to go.
I noticed recently that P’s art at home has changed. She use to mix her paints and cover an entire piece of paper. Now, she’s back to keeping the colors separate for the most part. She has also recognized the value of negative space. Brilliant. I find this simply brilliant.
