It’s Spring Break. That doesn’t mean much for our schedule, since P is not in school yet, but it does mean we get to hang with the neighborhood gang more. Today four families went to the beach. P can keep up with the other kids now. I like to watch her navigate her way through the group. Her two best buddies, who she looks up to, prompt her verbal skills beyond belief. P repeats everything they say. The eldest of the group is a sweatheart of a boy. When we come home from spending time with them P says “E talk to me!, E talk to me!”. She’s thrilled to get his attention. I feel extremely blessed P gets this interaction with so many children of so many varying ages. I have to credit my neighbors. I’m not social when it comes to neighbors. I like to keep to myself when at home but they bring me out of my shell. It does a world of good for P. Each child teaches P something about the dynamics of a group. The good and the bad. All needed for living in a society. This type of day gives me confidence that P will be able to immerse herself in the preschool process without any trouble. I look forward to what the summer will bring.
