All the foods P use to love like hummus, roasted tomatoes, butternut squash and salmon she now spits out. She’s never taken to green veggies, even peas, but she will eat sea weed. I’m struggling to come up with new meals. I need to hit the cookbooks again….and try new spices. While she won’t eat carrots alone she will eat them with sprinkled tarragon or ginger. Avocado is a big no on its own but with salt, YES! And tomato sauce….good Lord has she become picky! One restaurant’s she likes, the other she hates, and my homemade pizza sauce, well it depends on her mood. Which means she won’t eat pasta or pizza, and I use to load both with veggies.
I refuse to make special meals for her. I want EVERYONE in the family to eat the same thing. Maybe its the Latina in me? George Lopez even comments about this in his HBO special, “Tall, Dark & Chicano”. Us Latins make one dish and from grandma to new born, everyone eats!. No special mac n cheese for the kids like the “Gringos” do it. His show is a riot and I laughed…because its true.
I was so proud of P’s broad palette and her willingness to try new foods. I don’t know if its the age, teething or she picked it up from someone, but food has officially become challenging. I made the mistake of giving her a few treats here and there and I think it’s shut down her taste buds. I feel like her tastes regressed. They say it takes an average of 15 times to get a child to like something. I’m going to keep trying and bye bye treats.
