P can say quite a few words now. She’s hit a point where she’s learning about 2-3 a day. It’s amazing. What I find really amazing is that even though she regularly uses some words like Pappa and eat she can’t say more than one word at a time. So, she can’t say: “Pappa eat”.
She’s also repeating much of what I say but only repeats the last word of a “toddlerease” phrase, even though she can say all the words I’m using like “P eat? P hungry” P water?” She says: “eat”, “hungry”, “wa-wa”.
She knows meanings quite well. The other day she poured water on herself while drinking and turned to her dad and said “wet, wet, wet”. But for now it’s only one word at a time.
Here’s the even more intriguing thing to me. When she babbles on and on…you know the kind of speaking your kid does when they are clearing telling a full story but we don’t understand a word of it. When P is dialoguing to her toys, it’s clearly more than one word. It’s sentences that I don’t understand. She knows the rhythm of dialogue but still only one understandable word at a time comes out of her mouth. So interesting.
